Folk West
The goal of FolkWest is to present a 2 1/2 day music festival showcasing folk-roots music. Planted in folk tradition, we are committed to presenting music that takes traditional influences and creates something new; folk and singer/songwriter music for a new generation, as well as acts that represent the purest forms of regional cultural traditions (Appalachian, bluegrass, Acadian, Quebecois, Metis, Celtic etc). We are also committed to showcasing exceptional family entertainment and providing children’s programming, so anyone and everyone will enjoy the FolkWest experience!

Eric’s mastery of the guitar and song writing made last year’s performance at Milner Garden’s Music in the Garden an extremely memorable evening by an incredibly talented artist.
Eric Harper began his education in classical music at the Conservatory of Braga in Braga, Portugal. After completing his education in Europe he returned to the states and attended the prestigious Berklee College of
Music; graduating with a Bachelor of Music in film scoring “Magna Cum Laude” in just over two years.

‘Strings in the Sun’
Join the Nanaimno Chamber Orchestra for Strings in the Sun, a summertime trip through the greatest hits of Classical Music. Vivaldi's Winter, Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, Boccherini's Minuetto, and many other pieces you have heard and loved. There'll be some Verdi, Some Mascagni, a bit of Joplin, and all of them will be the hummable, wonderful tunes you already know from the best music of all time.
370 Crome Pt Rd, Bowser. All concerts run 6:30-8:30pm, doors open 6:00pm

The Big Time Out
Cumberland Village Works delivered another stellar music inspired event with The Big Time Out -2008. Village Park in downtown Cumberland hosted some of the hottest independent acts currently touring the planet, including: Indie rockers Metric, hip-hop daddies De La Soul, K’naan, Matisyahu, Delhi2Dublin, Moshav, Shane Philip, Wil, That 1 Guy, Adham Shaikh, The CR Avery Band and You Say Party! We Say Die!
The Big Time Out had all the elements audiences have come to expect from a major Cumberland Village Works event, including audiovisual installations, commissioned art, dance and circus pieces, thematic chill zones and many other surprises.
Bringing successful International talent to this quaint little village is just the beginning. The Big Time Out is all about creating a festive vibe and funky setting. Inside the gates of The Big Time Out is a unique community event with a vibrant scene enveloping the exceptional music. Commissioned art installations, contemporary visuals, circus performers and colorful dancers provided a backdrop to thematic chill spaces like the extremely popular Union Saloon and our new family-oriented chai tent.
The Kulth Music Festival
A 2012 Vancouver Island Music Festival: The Kulth (pronounced coolth) is a festival for all ages located in Coombs, British Columbia on Vancouver Island. Created to bring music festival lovers together under a banner of mutual respect for one another and for the environment we share. Festival participants can expect the highest standard of talent from both local and international acts, and a well planned and organized event.
Vancouver Island Music Awards
The goal of the Vancouver Island Music Awards is to (1) CELEBRATE the Vancouver Island music scene, (2) Build AWARENESS of this scene among the general public on the island and across Canada, (3) Provide a NETWORKING opportunity between artists and music industry representatives, (4) Acknowledge & Reward EXCELLENCE in the artistry and work ethic of Island artists, (5) EMPOWER & ENCOURAGE Island Artists to pursue their musical dreams, (6) Set a positive and professional example for YOUTH (and the young at heart!) who are pursuing a career in music.
