Cori Sandler - Comox Valley Potter
CORI SANDLER POTTERY -
Cori Sandler Pottery can be found in collections from east to west. At the Cori Sandler Pottery Studio, in the Comox Valley, Vancouver Island, BC, Canadian Potter, Cori Sandler makes primarily cone 6 functional pottery with a sense of whimsy and joy. She uses bright bold colours and glazes, slips and underglazes and dark outlines to make her playful drawings fit into any contemporary decorated home. Cori also makes pottery in her Vancouver Island Studio in the Comox Valley (just a quick ferry ride to Denman Island and Hornby Island - The Gulf Islands), which are more subtle and quiet reflections of nature, asking the holder of the pot to gently carress and consider the hands that made the pottery. This pottery has been wood fired in a wood fired kiln called an Anagama kiln for up to 3 days with solid stoking time and about a week cool down before the pottery can be unloaded. This work is of a more somber and introspective nature - pots...with deep rich colours and textures.
